Spent a few hours on Route 66 before heading home. First stop was Lincoln, Illinois. Mr. Lincoln practiced law there prior to his presidency, 1847 to 1859. The early courthouse was there and a few interesting Route 66 treasures. Then on to Atlanta, Illinois.
George's Aunt Dorothy is 92 and moved to Peoria a few years ago to be closer to her daughter. She is a twin to John Paul Lawrence- George's dad . She lived in Marion all her life and was the meat cutter at Lawrence Royal Blue Grocery Store in the 50's and 60's.
She recognized George and was very glad to see him. I don't know if she understood everything he said, but she loved hearing him talk.

After leaving Route 66 we drove 6 hours to Marion Ohio. I decided to add some water towers to my collection! Enjoy!
We travelled about 5300 miles in our journey across Route 66. We met some interesting people, saw some wonder sites both man made and God made, as well as some very poor and sad sites.
There were many blessings along the road.
We do hope that we might have inspired you to seek out some of your own journeys.
Thank you for traveling with us.
