This picture shows Stanley Marsh 3, the financier of the project as they moved the cars.
The 10 caddies chosen were from 1949, 1950, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962, and 1963. They represent the changes in the tailfins of these classic Cadillac's.
I believe the 1963 was the last of the tailfins.
One is encouraged to bring a can or two of spray paint. They even say that you may want to bring a can of primer if you want your message seen well.
"Leave a name, or a message to be read or painted over..."
Over the years people have painted the cars for special reasons.
